Dewey Beach, Del.–The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate a four vehicle crash that left one woman dead Saturday afternoon on Route 1.
Troopers say shortly after 12 p.m. during stop and go traffic northbound on Route 1, a 23-year-old woman from Lewes driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue failed to stop.
The vehicle hit a 2015 Honda CRV that was behind a 2013 Ford Escape, according to Troopers.
Police say the impact of the collision caused the Honda CRV to hit the Ford Escape, and the Ford Escape then struck the rear of a 2016 Subaru Forester.
The 50-year-old driver of the Subaru Forester was not injured, according to officers.
Responding officers say the 44-year-old driver of the Ford Escape and the 52-year-old driver of Honda CRV were wearing seat belts and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say 23-year-old driver from Lewes was transported by ambulance to Beebe Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Officers say she was not wearing a seat belt. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Route 1 was closed for closed for about three hours Saturday afternoon during the investigation and clean up.
Police say the crash in Dewey Beach remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
