(REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.) – Child medical cannabis advocate Rylie Maedler receives Governor John Carney’s Youth Volunteer Service Award during a ceremony Tuesday night.
This 13-year-old from Rehoboth Beach is among 25 individuals and three group recipients recognized for their service to the state.
“I speak out for alterative medicine like cannabis therapy,” Rylie says. “It shrank my tumor, it regenerated my bones, and it also helped so many other kids.”
Rylie’s Law first passed in 2015. Since then, the law has been updated so that patients with severe autism would qualify for a prescription and so that caregivers would be allowed to bring medical marijuana oil to patients on school property.
