REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Police in Rehoboth Beach said they’ve made an arrest in Saturday’s stabbing incident.
Marques J. Gantt, 23, of Milton, was arrested Wednesday on three felony charges.
It stems from the stabbing that happened over the weekend. According to police, it happened in the area of Wilmington Avenue just after 10 p.m. Following a verbal altercation, the suspect reportedly approached the victim from his left side, removed a knife from his right hand and stabbed the victim in his left side, police said. The suspect and three accomplices then fled the scene west on Wilmington Avenue, police said.
Police said their investigation as well as tips they received helped them identify Gantt as the suspect in surveillance photos.
Officers found him in a hotel room at the Rodeway Inn & Suites in Rehoboth Beach and he was arrested without incident. He was committed to SCI on a $157,500 secured bail.
Rehoboth Beach PD also said they have identified everyone involved, and there will be no additional charges right now. Police said they credit the public’s help with finding Gantt.
The victim was seriously injured, but is expected to be okay. They were taken to the hospital Saturday, where they were listed in stable condition.
