A Georgetown man faces felony charges after police say he threatened his girlfriend with a knife June 13 during a domestic related incident near Rehoboth Beach.

A woman told police she and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Jerron D. Ricketts of Georgetown, had argued all day at a home in the 20000 block of Coastal Highway, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.

Jaffe said the woman had a no unlawful contact order against Ricketts, but the two left the home with him to pick up the woman’s three children at daycare. Jaffe said Ricketts broke the passenger’s side rear door handle during that argument and when they returned home with the children he threatened the woman with a large knife and damaged some items in the home. No one was injured during the fight, she said.

Ricketts ran off before police arrived at 7:20 p.m., but police found him shortly later at a neighbor’s home. He was arrested without incident, Jaffe said.

Ricketts was taken to Troop 7 and charged with aggravated menacing – a felony, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, offensive touching, two count criminal mischief and breach of release. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $63,500 cash only bond.
