A New Jersey man died July 29 after he was involved in a single-car crash in Milton.

Delaware State Police spokeswoman Melissa Jaffe said the 48-year-old man, whose name is being withheld until his next-of-kin can be notified, crashed his 2017 Chevrolet Impala into a tree near the intersection of Chestnut and Church streets. Jaffe said the man, who was from Hamburg, N.J., was not properly restrained when his car veered off the roadway, and he thrown from the vehicle.

Debris from the car struck an occupied nearby home, but no one at the house was hurt. Chestnut Street was closed for three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared. The crash is still under investigation.
