A motorcyclist and his passenger were seriously injured July 26 when police say the driver was speeding on Plantations Road and collided with a vehicle.
A Smyrna man, 54, was riding a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with a 58-year-old woman passenger at 5:26 p.m. on Plantations Road northwest of Route 24 when he drove the motorcycle southbound onto the shoulder at a high rate of speed, said Sgt. Richard Bratz of the Delaware State Police.
At the same time as the motorcycle was riding on the shoulder, Bratz said a 2018 Toyota Highlander, operated by a 54-year-old Maryland man was turning left at a residence and the vehicles collided. The motorcycle driver and the passenger were ejected, Bratz said. They were taken to Beebe Healthcare and later transported to Christiana Hospital.
The driver of the Toyota Highlander was not injured in the crash.
