CAMDEN, Del.- A convoy of motorcycles arrived in Kent County Thursday morning to pay tribute to former Delaware Army National Guardsman Pharon Hameed.
The Tribute to Fallen Soldiers Convoy, which started in Oregon and is making its way to Arlington National Cemetery, stopped at Brecknock Park in Camden.
Members presented a plaque and picture of Hameed to his surviving family.
“To know that he was remembered and he’s loved, and my children can look back on this years from now and see their daddy was so important and was a hero to so many people… it makes it very special,” Hameed’s widow, Michelle, said.
According to Michelle, Hameed died in December 2018 from a heart condition, not from a combat injury.
The convoy plans to reach Arlington this weekend, with a ceremony set for Sunday.
