OCEAN CITY, Md.- A $1 million dollar lawsuit has been filed against the Town of Ocean City in the death of a woman found buried in the sand last year.
Thirty-year-old Ashley O’Connor from Plano, Texas, was vacationing with her family last July.
Police said she was walking on the beach alone around 2 a.m. and sat in a hole about four feet deep. Her body was discovered around 6:30 a.m. the same day, WBOC previously reported.
According to police, alcohol was a factor in the incident.
The lawsuit, filed by a representative on O’Connor’s behalf, alleges maintenance tractors collapsed the hole she was sitting in and ran her body over several times.
The lawsuit says O’Connor’s death was due to negligence by Town of Ocean City employees.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death as accidental, caused by asphyxia due to suffocation.
