VIRGINIA – Voters went to the polls for state senate races all across the state of Virginia, including those on the Eastern Shore.
Voters in Accomack and Northampton counties elected incumbent Lynwood Lewis to serve another term in the state senate for District 6. Lewis fended off challenger Willie Randall 4,557 to 1,899 respectively, that according to the Virginia Department of Elections. There is no republican challenger for the seat.
Lewis first took office in a 2014 special election to fill in for then senator Ralph Northman, when he won Lt. Governor.
Randall is a 20-year Army veteran who started his career in finance and business. Both Lewis and Randall are Eastern Shore residents.
Virginia’s Senate District 6 encompasses Accomack, Northampton and Matthews counties as well as Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
Virginia’s general election is set for November 5, 2019.
