SALISBURY, Md. – Latinos in the community are raising concerns about participating in the 2020 U.S. Census.
According to immigration specialists, there is a large number of undocumented Latinos who are afraid to jeopardize their status and the livelihood of their families.
Although they are encouraged to participate immigration specialists tell 47ABC that the current administration has brought forth a lot of fear within the community.
This follows after President Donald Trump proposed a citizenship question to the U.S. Census.
“I think it would be a good thing if they do, but because of the political climate now, it’s difficult for them to make a decision,” said Leila Borrero Krouse, an immigration specialist in Salisbury.
Latinos in the area are encouraged to reach out to local immigrant organizations for more information on what they can expect in next year’s U.S. Census.
