BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – People got together in Bridgeville on Saturday to support Woodbridge High School star quarterback Troy Haynes.

Haynes was recently diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer. People on Saturday sold things like ‘Fight Like 4’ t-shirts and barbecue food to help Haynes and his family pay for medical treatments. The fundraiser generated over $5,000 dollars. A GoFundMe page has also been created for Haynes. It has already raised over $42,000 dollars.

“It’s crucial to try to lessen the burden for the family as much as we can,” said Mike Rowe, the event organizer.

“I said this earlier to someone that our duty as a community is to help our younger generation when they have a hard time, so that’s why we’re all doing this,” said Rowe.

If you’re interested in donating to Haynes and his family you are encouraged to contact Mike Rowe at 302-236-5301.
