MILLVILLE, Del – The final beams to be put in place were signed by staff and supporters of the $48 million Millville expansion project of Beebe Healthcare.  Many of those same people also signed one of the exposed walls.  It marks the end of one phase of construction.  Work began at the site in the fall of 2018.  People living in the southern coastal communities on Delmarva that have to spend time in a vehicle due to distance and traffic for emergency care will now be able to get those services closer to home.

“When you need emergency care it is hard to travel far,” the President and CEO of Beebe’s Medical Foundation Judy Aliquo told WRDE.  “I think this will actually save lives and change lives.”

The facility will be called the South Coastal Health Campus.  It will feature 24/7 emergency room services.  That part of the project is expected to be completed in May 2020.  Two months later the cancer program should open.
